PERFORMANCE SYSTEMATIX INC. BREAKS GROUND FOR
NEW GRAND RAPIDS FACILITY

Grand Rapids, MI — Performance Systematix Inc. (PSI) broke ground for a new 63,000 square foot building at 5569 33rd St. SE in Grand Rapids in March. The new site will be the primary location for manufacturing components for medical filters, container venting and laboratory products utilized by biochemical, chemical, healthcare and other industries.

Vice President Karlis Mateus said the firm is doubling the size of its current building to meet expanding demand for its products by U.S. and international customers.

"Our sales increased 18 percent over 2001," Mateus said, noting the company had been averaging a 12-16 percent annual growth since its founding in 1984. "We are very excited about our sustained growth in this tough economic period."

The new facility was designed by Integrated Architecture of Grand Rapids and is being built by Bouwens Construction of Holland. One of the building's unique features is a central gathering space called the "Tube," which includes an employee health center and is designed expressly to bring PSI staff together and promote interaction. The new plant will feature state-of-the-art clean room facilities, prototype and tooling rooms, and expanded manufacturing and warehouse areas.

Founded in Ann Arbor, Mich., in 1984 by Karlis Vizulis and Charlie von Reis, the company has focused on meeting the unique venting and filtration needs of its customers. The firm moved to Grand Rapids in 1989, and expanded three years later, moving to its current location at 5569 33rd Street, SE.

"This is an exciting time for everyone at PSI," said President Karlis Vizulis. "Everyone who works here is essential to our business and how we function. The new facility allows us to celebrate our growth and provides a nice work environment for our employees."

Bouwens Construction projects the building will take approximately six
months to complete. Bouwens has been in building construction in the
West Michigan area for more than 60 years. The company specializes in both custom design and pre-engineered buildings for commercial and industrial operations and organizations.
