Milestone
Celebrates with Grand Opening of New Global
Headquarters
Grand Rapids, Mich. - May 20, 2004 - Performance Systematix
Inc. (PSI) is celebrating 20 years of business success with the
grand opening of its new global headquarters located at 5569 33rd
Street, SE.
Designed by Integrated Architecture and built by Bowens Construction,
PSI's 72,000
sq. ft. facility houses a state-of-the-art clean room, prototype and tooling
areas, and expanded manufacturing and warehouse space. The work settings feature
Steelcase furniture provided by Custer Office Environments and high-density
warehouse shelving supplied by StelterPartners.
"Twenty years is a major milestone for our company," says President
Karlis Vizulis." It seems like we started yesterday. When I look
at where we are now, how far we've come as a company, it's fantastic.
I'm humbled by how far we've come."
"Our company wouldn't be where it is today without our employees," says
Karlis Mateus, Vice President and General Manager. "We're a close-knit
group. Our new building was specifically designed with input from
the employees to make sure we maintained what was important to
us, yet improved how we work and interact with
one another."
The building features a central gathering place called "the tube," a
bi-section of the building where everyone meets for essential functions.
The building features a fully equipped café and employee
fitness center complete with weight machines, cardiovascular equipment
and a plasma screen.
PSI began in 1984 when the founders, Karlis Vizulis and Charles
von Reis, invented a faster, more consistent and cost-effective
way to provide the medical and packaging industries with venting
and filtering products.
"Our first customers had unique problems that other manufacturers
thought were too difficult or unprofitable to take on, but PSI
tackled and overcame these challenges," explains Vizulis. "As a
result we have a reputation as a problem solver and expert manufacturer
with many different capabilities."
Today PSI provides custom and standard solutions to a wide variety
of markets around the world, including agro-chemical,
bio-technical, chemical, forensic sciences, healthcare, industrial
manufacturing, laboratory and analysis, medical products, packaging,
petrochemical and pharmaceutical. The company specializes in the integration of hydrophobic microporous
membranes into plastic components used in laboratory analysis products,
medical filters, and packaging applications. PSI has a strategic
relationship
with W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc., the makers GORE-TEX ® fabrics,
ensuring that its products utilize only the highest quality materials.
One of PSI's newest products is the Disposable Infrared Sample
Card Dot.IR card). Dot.IR cards are used by state crime labs to
process evidence in high-profile crimes similar to those seen on
CSI and Cold Case. In addition, the company's Dot.IR cards
are currently being reviewed by the U.S. Department of Defense, Aberdeen Testing
Laboratories, for use in detecting biological contaminants.
While PSI may not be a common household name, the company's Circumvent ® and
Airfoil ® vented liner systems provide leak-proof seals for
many common household items such as bleach, laundry detergents
and garden fertilizers.
Products like these helped PSI achieved sales of more than $8
million in 2003.
The company has consistently attained growth rates of 12 percent or better
over the
past 20 years. Privately held, PSI reinvests its profits in its people, technology,
machinery and infrastructure. |
